Further casting is to be announced. The casting announcement was made during this year’s WhatsOnStage Awards.
This new production of High School Musical is produced by the Hope Mill Theatre and Chris Harper Productions (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry The Musical) with the Lowry.
What’s High School Musical about? Join Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High as they navigate the highs and lows of first love, friendships, and self-discovery – all while juggling classes, basketball games, auditions and the expectations of their peers.
The stage show, which is based on Disney’s much-loved 2006 film High School Musical, has music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle, and a book by David Simpatico. Songs from the film and in the show include Breaking Free, Get’cha Head in the Game, We’re All In This Together, and Stick to the Status Quo.
The Hope Mill Theatre production is co-directed by Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with choreography by Aaron Renfree.
The show first premiered in London in 2008 but has never had a West End run. Here’s hoping that might change with this new production.
