London fringe venue The Vaults below Waterloo station has announced a new in-house production for 2026.
New immersive parody musical Ancient Grease will play at The Vaults, in a return to in-house productions for the venue.
The adults-only show will run from 4 March to 31 May 2026.
The Vaults’ previous shows include Mulan Rouge, Stranger Sings, The Witches of Oz, Peter Pan’s Labyrinth, and Dinner is Coming.
Ancient Grease is the first professional production from writer and performer Lady Aria Grey (he/she/they), star of Mulan Rouge and creator of Grey Widow; and the musical directorial debut of critically acclaimed stand-up comedian Dan Wye (he/him), one of London’s most prominent queer comedians and creatives.
Musical supervision and Track Arrangement for Ancient Grease is by Olivia Zacharia (she/her) (Diary of a Gay Disaster); and the show is produced by Susannah Bond (she/her) for The Vaults, with choreography by Lucinda Lawrence (she/her), lighting design by Clancy Flynn (he/him), sound design by Gabriel Swarbrick (he/she/they), set design by Isabella Van Braeckel (she/her).
Ancient Grease is a dirty love-letter to the hit movie musical Grease, re-imagining the iconic characters and setting them amongst the Gods of Mount Olympus. The wine will flow, fate will be re-written, and Grease gets the ending it always deserved.
Director Dan Wye said in a statement that he is, “excited to be working on such a large-scale queer comedy musical. My work always focuses on elevating queer performance and allowing audiences from all walks of life to experience the power of queer joy… And what better place to do this than The Vaults?”
Also playing at The Vaults is HUMBUG – The Immersive Christmas Dive Bar, which has returned to London for another festive season until 31 December 2025.
Ancient Grease is playing at The Vaults in London from 4 March to 31 May 2026.
