The blockbuster film also stars Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater and Marissa Bode, along with Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James and Sharon D. Clarke.

The brand new behind-the-scenes trailer for Wicked: For Good offers fans an exclusive glimpse into the final chapter of the two-part cinematic event from director Jon M. Chu. The featurette includes interviews with stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who return as Elphaba and Glinda, and reflects on the emotional and thematic stakes that shape this concluding film. There are plenty of sweeping visuals, candid cast moments, and insights into the production process – so it’s worth a watch.
Interviews with the Wicked cast
In the trailer, Cynthia Erivo reflects on the evolution of Elphaba, now in hiding and vilified as the Wicked Witch of the West, continuing her defiant mission to free Oz’s oppressed Animals. Meanwhile Ariana Grande discusses Glinda’s complex journey as the adored face of “Goodness,” now dwelling in the palace at Emerald City while wrestling with fame and a fractured friendship. Their dynamic is at the core of this chapter, as past decisions ripple into a tense future — and a long-awaited reckoning between two powerful women.

The footage also highlights key performances from the returning cast, including Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, and Bowen Yang in pivotal supporting roles. With lavish costumes, expansive sets, and emotionally charged character arcs, the behind-the-scenes moments capture both the magic and the intensity that have gone into concluding the untold story of the witches of Oz.

Back in June, Universal Pictures finally lifted the curtain on Wicked: For Good, the concluding chapter of Jon M. Chu’s two-part screen adaptation of the smash-hit Broadway and West End musical. Dropped online overnight on 4 June 2025, and screened exclusively in cinemas during a one-night re-release of last year’s Wicked, the trailer serves up a magical brew of thrills and brand-new vocals from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
In the trailer, the footage opens with Glinda (Grande) beckoning Elphaba (Erivo) to safety, only for Oz’s winged simians to swoop overhead. “There’s no going back,” Elphaba warns, clinging to the Grimmerie as emerald-coloured lightning crackles around her.
From the start it’s clear that the fragile bond they forged at Shiz University is now tested by politics and propaganda. As Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) rallies pitchfork-wielding villagers and brands Elphaba a “wicked witch”, Glinda must decide whether to stand by her former roommate or the Wizard’s spin machine.
Flying monkeys, silver slippers… and a wedding veil
Chu’s teaser revisits several Ozian icons: Dorothy and her newfound friends skipping along the Yellow Brick Road, glinting silver shoes (yes, silver – a sly nod to L. Frank Baum’s original text) and an entire regiment of fearsome primates.
However, the biggest shock is reserved for when Glinda glides down a church aisle in a blush-pink wedding dress, in a major hint that her courtship with Captain Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) has escalated and borne fruit! Whether any nuptials actually take place is another matter – especially as the trailer shows Fiyero levelling a gun at the Wizard himself.
New musical moments
Musical theatre fans can breathe easy as Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked score remains front and centre. Erivo unleashes a searing snippet of “No Good Deed”, while the final moments show Erivo and Grande trading lines from the duet “For Good”.
Both numbers seem to have fresh vocal arrangements, another hint that Part Two of these movies will go even deeper emotionally.
Stephen Schwartz has also written TWO brand new songs for the movie, extending the Wicked universe even more. Will the new songs end up in the West End show?
Choices and consequences
Speaking last autumn about Wicked: For Good, the film’s director Jon M. Chu talked about the darker tone, saying that “If Part 1 is about choices, Part 2 is about consequences… sometimes the result isn’t what you expect.”
The trailer seems to reflect that, as Oz is bathed in ominous emerald shadows and frames Elphaba as both fugitive and folk-hero.
The film’s second half promises to bring Oz’s bittersweet finale to an even wider audience while preserving the musical’s emotional core. Whether you’re Team Glinda, Team Elphaba or simply in it for the flying monkeys, November 2025 looks set to be anything but ordinary.
