The highly anticipated stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman is set to make its world premiere at the Bristol Hippodrome in spring 2026. The new musical, based on the blockbuster 2017 film, is brought to life by a stellar creative team, including award-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, acclaimed director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw, and book writer Tim Federle.
This marks the first time a 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox) title has been adapted for the stage by Disney Theatrical Group and The Seelig Group, a producer of the original film. Audiences can expect the GRAMMY Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated songs from Pasek and Paul, including “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” and “This Is Me,” alongside brand-new material written specifically for the production.

Benj Pasek & Justin Paul – Composers
Widely regarded as two of the most influential songwriters of their generation, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have seamlessly transitioned between film, stage, and television, creating iconic musical moments. They are best known for their Academy Award-winning work on La La Land, as well as the GRAMMY and Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Their Greatest Showman soundtrack became a global phenomenon, spending multiple weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 and becoming the best-selling album of 2018 worldwide. The duo recently achieved EGOT status after winning an Emmy for their work on Only Murders in the Building. Their extensive credits also include Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Disney’s Aladdin, Trolls, and the upcoming Disney’s Snow White.
Tim Federle – Book Writer
Tim Federle is an Emmy and DGA-nominated writer, director, and producer, celebrated for his work across television, film, and literature. He is the creator of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which received 14 Emmy nominations. His film Better Nate Than Ever, which he wrote and directed, was nominated for an Emmy for Best Screenplay.
Federle’s Broadway experience includes co-writing the libretto for Tuck Everlasting, and he began his career as a performer in productions such as Gypsy and The Little Mermaid. He is also a best-selling author, known for Tequila Mockingbird and Better Nate Than Ever, the latter earning a New York Times Notable Book recognition and a Lambda Literary Award.
Casey Nicholaw – Director and Choreographer
A two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, Casey Nicholaw is one of Broadway’s most sought-after creatives. His extensive credits include The Book of Mormon, Aladdin, Mean Girls, Some Like It Hot, The Prom, and Dreamgirls. His work has been recognised with multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Olivier awards.
Nicholaw’s productions are known for their high-energy choreography and dynamic storytelling, making him a perfect choice to bring the spectacle of The Greatest Showman: The New Musical to the stage. Up next, he will also helm Disney’s Hercules, set to premiere at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London this summer.
