The hit stage adaptation of Heathers the Musical is heading to New York, with performances set to begin this summer. The production will open at New World Stages, Stage I (340 West 50th Street) on 21 June 2025, ahead of its official opening night in July.
Based on the cult 1989 film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, Heathers the Musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe. The show has previously enjoyed successful runs in London’s West End, at The Other Palace, and on multiple UK tours since its debut in 2018 with a sleight of West End stars including Jamie Muscato, Frances Mayli McCann & Ryan McCartan who are all soon to appear in The Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum; Carrie Hope Fletcher, Keelan McAuely now starring in Clueless; and Lauren Drew now in Titanique.
Andy Fickman, who has directed the musical in the UK, will helm the New York production, with further casting and creative team details expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The show’s latest revival marks its first major New York run since an Off-Broadway stint at New World Stages in 2014. Heathers the Musical has since built a devoted following, with its darkly comedic take on high school cliques, revenge, and redemption earning critical and audience acclaim.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday 31 March 2025.
