South London venue The Turbine Theatre, which closed in December after five years, is holding a jumble sale this weekend.
This Saturday 25 January 2025, between 1pm and 5pm, the Turbine Theatre will throw open its doors again to sell-off its collection of thousands of costumes, props and theatrical delights!
A statement from the theatre said, “We’d love as much of these to go to homes that will love them as much as we have.”
25% of the proceeds from the jumble sale will go to charity the Terrence Higgins Trust.
The Turbine Theatre announced back in October that it was closing due to a lack of investment. The venue’s artistic director Paul Taylor-Mills said at the time that, “as the landscape of making theatre shifts, without serious investment and philanthropy, a 92-seat space just can’t work and it’s time for me to focus my efforts elsewhere.”
The venue finally closed at the end of December 2024, with its final production the adult panto The Liar, The Bitch and The Wardrobe.
There’s no current news from the Battersea Power Station Development Company, who own the building housing the Turbine Theatre, on its future plans for the space.
The Turbine Theatre Jumble Sale is taking place on Saturday 25 January 2025, 1pm to 5pm, at Arches Lane, Nine Elms, London, SW11 8AB.
