Initial casting has been announced for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, coming to London’s The Other Palace theatre this Christmas 2024.

Max Harwood (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), who is currently in the cast of Stranger Things: The First Shadow at the Phoenix Theatre in London, will star in the show as Percy Jackson.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is adapted from Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series, which have sold over 180 million copies worldwide, and been adapted into hit movies and a major Disney+ TV series.

The show has a book by Joe Tracz (Be More Chill), music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki (Monstersongs), and this new production will be directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee (Groundhog Day).

Further creatives and casting is to be announced.

The Lightning Thief - Starring Max Harwood

The rock musical first premiered off-Broadway in 2014 and has gone on to tour the US and run on Broadway in 2019.

The story centres on New York City teenager Percy Jackson, who discovers that he is the half-blood son of the Greek god, Poseidon. His life takes a dramatic turn as he is plunged into a world much bigger than he could possibly have imagined.

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is playing at The Other Palace theatre from 23 November 2024 to 2 February 2025.
