Full casting has been announced for the West End play Oedipus, starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville.
Mark Strong (The Kingsman, A View from the Bridge, The Long Firm) and Lesley Manville (The Crown, Mum, Flowers for Mrs Harris, Ghosts) lead the show with Strong as Oedipus, the consummate political player, and Manville playing his mother Jocasta.
Completing the cast are: Samuel Brewer (Teiresias), Michael Gould (Creon), Sara Hazemi (Lichas/Understudy Antigone), Gary McDonald (Driver), Bhasker Patel (Corin), Phia Saban (Antigone), Jordan Scowen (Eteocles), June Watson (Merope) and James Wilbraham (Polyneices), with Jim Creighton (Ensemble/Understudy Oedipus & Creon), Derek Elroy (Ensemble/Understudy Corin, Teiresias & Driver), Celia Nelson (Ensemble/ Understudy Jocasta & Merope) and Jake Rory (Ensemble/Understudy Polyneices, Eteocles & Lichas) completing the cast.

The creative team
The production is adapted and directed by Robert Icke (Player Kings, The Doctor) and is a modern day prodcution set on election night, with Sophocles’ epic tragedy transformed into an essential, explosive human thriller.
As already announced, joining Robert Icke in the creative team of Oedipus are Hildegard Bechtler (Set Design), Wojciech Dziedzic (Costume Design), Natasha Chivers (Lighting Design), Tom Gibbons (Sound Design), Tal Yarden (Video Design) and Julia Horan CDG (Casting Director).
The West end production of Oedipus is playing at the Wyndham’s Theatre from 4 October 2024, running to 4 January 2025.
