New immersive exhibition VOGUE: Inventing the Runway is coming to London this autumn 2024.
Housed at the state-of-the-art Lightroom space in King’s Cross, run by the operators of The Bridge Theatre in London, this new exhibition will explore the history of the fashion runway show, from the intimate couture salons of the early 20th century to the unforgettable pop-culture events of the present.
The show will tap into Vogue’s incredible archive and contributor network for the experience, bringing together the fashion industry’s leading voices from the past, present, and future.
VOGUE: Inventing the Runway is running at Lightroom London from 25 October 2024 to 30 March 2025 at Lightroom.
Currently running at Lightroom is David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away) until 6 October 2024; and The Moonwalkers: A Journey With Tom Hanks until 13 October 2024.

First-hand testimony and a rich mixture of media will be used in this new immersive exhibition, to reveal how fashion shows became the ultimate statement of a designer’s vision – at times, a walking expression of their identity – reimagined season after season and year after year. It is a celebration of the imagination, discipline and passion that has revolutionised how we experience fashion.
Inventing the Runway will take us inside a fashion show – on the front row and behind the scenes – transporting audiences through locations and eras. The Lightroom’s four-storey walls will present a 360-degree canvas, so you can experience and interact with designers’ visions up close, in new ways and at unprecedented scale.
Inventing the Runway reveals how fashion shows became the ultimate statement of a designer’s vision – at times, a walking expression of their identity – reimagined season after season and year after year.
