Acclaimed West End show Stranger Things: The First Shadow has dropped a brand new trailer for the production, which is now playing at West End’s Phoenix Theatre in London.
The new trailer features stunning, never-before-seen footage from this epic show, tracking the play’s main story arc and showcasing some of the incredible stage effects and theatrical wizardry.
Other big Stranger Things news today is that the show is also extending its run a the Phoenix Theatre, and will now be booking to 16 February 2025.
New Trailer: Stranger Things – The First Shadow
Directed by multi-Olivier and Tony award-winner Stephen Daldry (The Crown, Billy Elliot), alongside co-director Justin Martin, last month Stranger Things: The First Shadow picked up the Olivier Award for Best New Entertainment. The show also won Best New Play at the Whatsonstage Awards 2024.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow opened in December 2023 to incredible reviews from the London theatre critics, with four and five stars across the board from all the major critics.
Based on the Netflix TV series Stranger Things created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is written by Kate Trefry (Netflix’s Stranger Things), and has an original story by the Duffer Brothers, award-winning writer Jack Thorne (The Motive and the Cue), and Kate Trefry.
The show stars Louis McCartney (Game of Thrones) as Henry Creel, with Isabella Pappas (Finding Alice) as Joyce Maldonaldo; Oscar Lloyd (The 47th) as James Hopper Jnr; Christopher Buckley (David Copperfield) as Bob Newby; Ella Karuna Williams (The Equalizer) as Patty Newby; Shane Attwooll (Wonder Woman 1984) as Chief Hopper; Michael Jibson (The Essex Serpent; Hamilton) as Victor Creel; Patrick Vaill (Oklahoma!) as Dr Brenner; and Alex Young (Follies) as Virginia Creel.

Other cast include Kemi Awoderu (Sue Anderson), Chase Brown (Lonnie Byers), Ammar Duffus (Charles Sinclair), Gilles Geary (Ted Wheeler), Florence Guy (Karen Childress), Max Harwood (Allen Munson), Matthew Pidgeon (Father Newby), Calum Ross (Walter Henderson) and Maisie Norma Seaton (Claudia Henderson); and an ensemble and swings that include Tricia Adele-Turner, Lauren Arney, Reya-Nyomi Brown, Patricia Castro, Lydia Fraser, Isaac Gryn, Mark Hammersley, Tom Peters, Kingdom Sibanda, Tiana Simone, Danny Sykes and Meesha Turner.
The show’s creative team also includes set design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Brigitte Reiffenstuel, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Paul Arditti, illusions design by Jamie Harrison & Chris Fisher, video design by 59 Productions, movement direction by Coral Messam, wigs, hair and make-up design by Campbell Young Associates, casting by Charlotte Sutton CDG, international casting consultancy by Jim Carnahan, and Gary Beestone for Gary Beestone Associates is Technical Director.
