Freema Agyeman is a British stage and screen actress known for Doctor Who, Torchwood and New Amsterdam. She recently played Olivia in the RSC revival of Twelfth Night at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and the Barbican in London.

Freema Agyeman rose to fame for her breakthrough performance as Martha Jones in the BBC’s Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood. Her extensive television credits include starring roles in Law & Order: UK, The Carrie Diaries, Sense8, New Amsterdam, and Dreamland.

She has also appeared in Rubenesque, Old Jack’s Boat, Survivors, Little Dorrit, Silent Witness, Mile High, and Crossroads. Her film work includes The Matrix Resurrections, Eat Local, North v South, Rulers and Dealers, and Aisha the American.

Theatre Credits

Agyeman made her Royal Shakespeare Company debut as Olivia in Twelfth Night, followed by her performance as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon.

She starred as the Nurse in Jamie Lloyd’s acclaimed production of Romeo & Juliet at the Duke of York’s Theatre in London, alongside Tom Holland as Romeo (Romeo & Juliet reviews). She also delivered a solo performance in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at @sohoplace.

Additional theatre credits include God of Carnage (reviews) at the Lyric Hammersmith and Apologia at Trafalgar Studios.
