Next year’s Whatsonstage awards will take place on Sunday 12 February 2023.
The 23rd awards will be co-produced by creative directors Alex Parker and Damian Sandys.
Voted by theatregoers, nominations are now open and will close on 23 November 2022, with the shortlist published on 8 December 2022. Voting will close on 10 January 2023.
The award categories are once again gender free, and include the four awards for Best Performer and Supporting Performer in both a Play and Musical. Other categories include Choreography, Costume Design, Direction, Graphic Design, Lighting Design, Musical Direction/Supervision, Set Design, Sound Design, Casting Direction and Video Design awards.
A new category this year is Best Concert Event, to cover the increasing number of staged concerts of musicals that are happening in London and beyond.
The shortlist is selected by a panel of industry experts selected by Whatsonstage. Eligibility dates are from 26 November 2021 to 22 November 2022 for most categories.
