Gresham College Lectures: Theatre and its history

Video lectures about London Theatre, past and present from Gresham College.


Founded in 1597, Gresham College hold free public lectures by Gresham College professors and invited speakers.

In 2012 the College held a fascinating series of lectures about London Theatre featuring speakers that included the chief executive of the Society of London Theatre, Julian Bird, talking about the history of London Theatre and it’s present and future prospects; an alternative look at London Theatre from the perspective of Fringe Theatre by the outgoing artistic director of the Orange Tree Theatre, Sam Walters; London Theatre as international export, with an executive producer of hit global show Mamma Mia!, David Lightbody, talking about producing the show in China;  and Professor Anthony Field talking about the future of London Theatre.
