Samuel Barnett is a two-time Tony Award nominee, widely known for his breakthrough performance in The History Boys and for playing the title role in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. He returns as Jonathan in the West End transfer of PRIDE the Musical.

Samuel Barnett reprises the role of Jonathan in PRIDE the Musical, following sold-out, record-breaking runs at Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre and the National Theatre’s Dorfman Theatre. The production now transfers to the Bridge Theatre, becoming the venue’s first show under new owner Trafalgar Entertainment, and will play from 12 November 2026 to 8 May 2027. Directed by Matthew Warchus and based on the 1984 true story behind the acclaimed 2014 film, PRIDE reunites Warchus with the film’s writer, Stephen Beresford, who wrote the musical’s book and lyrics.

Samuel Barnett is a two-time Tony Award nominee, recognised for the Broadway productions of The History Boys and Twelfth Night. He first came to prominence in The History Boys, both on stage and in its film adaptation, and is also widely known for playing the title role in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency for BBC America. Barnett has since built an extensive and acclaimed career across the National Theatre, major subsidised venues, and screen and radio drama.
