The winners of the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2017 have been announced at a ceremony today, 4 December 2017, at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.
The 63rd annual awards were a big night for Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman at the Gielgud Theatre, winning best play, best director for Sam Mendes and best emerging talent for Tom Glynn-Carney.
Best actress went to Glenda Jackson for her King Lear at the Old Vic, and best musical was Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical at the London Coliseum.
The awards were co-hosted by Evening Standard proprietor Evgeny Lebedev, American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, Cate Blanchett and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge was the presenter.
