A new audiobook that is pushing the boundaries between music and storytelling has launched, starring a number of the West End’s most famous faces.

Following Jimmy Valentine is a new audiobook written by Jeff Flaster, who has reimagined American author O. Henry’s classic short story “A Retrieved Reformation”.

A stellar cast brings the story to life through words and music, including West End stars Hadley Fraser (The Phantom of the Opera), Kerry Ellis (Wicked), David Hunter (Waitress), and Celinde Schoenmaker (Guys & Dolls), TV favourite George Blagden (Versailles), and jazz legend Jacqui Dankworth.

The cast also includes Alison Arnopp, Simon Shorten, and David Beck.

The score of the audiobook, composed by Jeff Flaster, blends classical, jazz and classic rock influences.

Following Jimmy Valentine centres on notorious jewel thief Jimmy Valentine (Hadley Fraser) – fresh out of prison and swearing he’ll go straight. But his past refuses to let him go. Pursued by disillusioned New Orleans detective Jen Price (Kerry Ellis), Valentine hides in a small town where he falls in love with Annabel Adams (Celinde Schoenmaker). For the first time, Valentine dares to believe in a new life. But as the walls close in, the question remains: Can a man truly change, or will fate pull him back into the shadows?

Directed by David Beck, the audiobook is produced by Sarah Golding for Wireless Theatre, with casting by Fiona Thraille and Sarah Golding, music direction and orchestrations by Patrick Stockbridge, and sound design by Ross Burman.
