Studio Lambert, the TV company behind the BBC’s mega-hit show The Traitors, is turning the TV series into a new theatre show.
The Traitors on Stage is coming to a London theatre in 2027, with details of the venue and dates to be announced.
Studio Lambert has joined forces with Sam Mendes’ Neal Street Productions for The Traitors on Stage. Neal Street produced Hamnet and The Lehman Trilogy on stage, and the current, award-winning movie adaptation of Hamnet.
What we think: The twists and turns of The Traitors – plus its huge popularity – make it an obvious candidate for a new stage drama. A good whodunnit stage thriller is an ever-popular choice for theatregoers, as proved by the long-running success of The Mousetrap. Much of the show’s success will hang on getting the tone right, and revelling in the format’s best bits, but with strong characters and storyline. Given the calibre of the creative team lined up to steer the project, we are excited.
The theatrical version of the murder mystery reality TV show will tell a new story that is inspired by the TV show’s format, centred on a group of faithfuls trying to find the traitor in their midst.
The play will be written by John Finnemore (Good Omens) and directed by deputy artistic director of the National Theatre, Olivier Award winner Rob Hastie (Operation Mincemeat, Standing at the Sky’s Edge).
“Taking The Traitors from screen to stage is a hugely exciting next step for this much-loved brand. Partnering with Neal Street Productions, a true theatrical powerhouse, allows us to reimagine the show as a bold and surprising theatrical performance. Faithful fans should expect an intense, joyful night out as we reveal a thrilling new hunting ground for our traitors.” – STEPHEN LAMBERT (Studio Lambert)

The stage show comes hot on the back of Friday’s dramatic finale for Season Four of The Traitors on BBC One, presented by Claudia Winkleman. December’s finale of The Celebrity Traitors scored a huge audience of 15 million viewers, making it the most popular UK TV programme of 2025.
Set in a castle in Scotland, a group of faithful contestants sees secret saboteurs planted in their midst, and they all have to fight it out to win a cash prize.
“In developing The Traitors for the stage, Neal Street and Studio Lambert have curated a team of brilliant faithful theatremakers led by director Robert Hastie and writer John Finnemore to bring a bold, structural twist to the format that only the live medium can provide.” – CARO NEWLING (Neal Street Productions)
