Michael Harrison Entertainment has announced the cast of its new British musical WEIRD, inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Weird will have its world premiere this month at Newcastle Theatre Royal, 28 to 31 January 2026.
The show is billed as an electrifying, pop-powered reimagining Shakespeare’s Macbeth through the eyes of the fiercely fabulous and fun three witches, The Weird Sisters!
The cast of Weird will feature the three witches played by Gabriela Benedetti (Evita) as Phoenix, Hope Dawe (Burlesque) as Luna and Kingsley Morton (Mary Page Marlowe) as Angelique.
They will be joined by Dean John Wilson (Your Lie in April) as Macbeth; Scarlet Billham (Morning) as Lady Macbeth; Elliott Evans (Back to the Future) as Banquo; and Andrew Patrick-Walker (The Wizard of Oz) as King Duncan / Macduff.
Produced by West End and Broadway impresario Michael Harrison (Starlight Express, Miss Saigon, Titanique), Weird is written by Nick Butcher (The Little Big Things), and siblings Kerri Watt and Fraser Watt.
Telling the story of ambition, witchcraft and fate through the eyes of the three witches, Weird features a soundtrack of original pop anthems from its award-winning songwriting team, whose combined work has attracted more than 20 million streams across music, theatre and film.
The production is directed by Tim Jackson (Two Strangers Carry a Cake (Across New York), The Parent Agency), with choreography by Alexzandra Sarmiento (42 Balloons, Starter for Ten).
The creative team also includes Set design by Andrew Exeter; Costume design by Gabriella Slade; Lighting design by Howard Hudson; Sound design by Paul Gatehouse; and Orchestrator, musical supervisor and co-arranger Joe Beighton.
Producer Michael Harrison previously said about the show: “When I first read Weird and listened to the incredible soundtrack, I knew I wanted the biggest audience possible to see it. It’s fair to say some of us don’t understand Shakespeare – Weird will change that. We hope this is just the beginning for this thrilling new British musical.”
More than 5,000 schoolchildren from across the North East will be the first to see Weird free of charge, through a partnership between Michael Harrison and Newcastle Theatre Royal aimed at improving access to live theatre. Harrison, who grew up in Newcastle, has chosen his hometown venue for the world premiere of Weird.
There’s no current news about a West End transfer for Weird.
Weird is playing at the Theatre Royal Newcastle from 28 to 31 January 2026.
