Lionsgate’s newly promoted President of Global Products & Experiences, Jenefer Brown, is taking the studio’s blockbuster stories from screen to stage — with The Hunger Games on Stage leading the charge in London, and new stage musicals of La La Land and Dirty Dancing set to follow on Broadway.
The new live stage version of The Hunger Games began previews yesterday at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, a brand-new London venue in the Canary Wharf financial district of London.
The new show stars Mia Carragher (The Gathering) as Katniss Everdeen, joined by Euan Garrett (Quadrophenia – A Mod Ballet) as Peeta Mellark and Joshua Lacey (All the Old Knives) as Haymitch Abernathy, with John Malkovich appearing as President Coriolanus Snow on screen.
The Hunger Games on Stage is adapted by Olivier Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson (The Weir) from Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novels and the blockbuster Lionsgate films, and directed by Matthew Dunster (2:22 – A Ghost Story).
The production officially opens on 12 November, and is currently booking until 15 February 2026.

It was announced yesterday that Jenefer Brown, who has been with Lionsgate for over a decade, is getting a promotion and stepping up to President of Global Products & Experiences. She has been instrumental in bringing the studio’s major film franchises to life on stage, with The Hunger Games on Stage in development for seven years.
Brown told Deadline that, “The Hunger Games has an enduring relevance to current events. A new wave of young people, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha, is rediscovering the series.”
Brown’s new role expands her work in creating immersive worlds for audiences, from London’s The Hunger Games to Las Vegas attractions like The Official Saw Escape Room and The John Wick Experience, as well as a Now You See Me Live show opening at the Sydney Opera House later this year.
From Screen to Stage: La La Land and Dirty Dancing on Broadway
Lionsgate’s stage ambitions don’t stop in London. Brown is also overseeing two major Broadway-bound musicals: La La Land, produced by Wicked’s Marc Platt, which is targeting a Broadway opening next year; and a new stage version of Dirty Dancing, developed in collaboration with the film’s original writer Eleanor Bergstein. Both productions are currently in development.
La La Land recently conducted a production design workshop, as the show inches towards a Broadway opening, possibly as early as next year.
La La Land tracks the rocky love story of a hopeful actress and a failing jazz pianist set against the backdrop of a dream-like LA, and is based on the hit movie starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
The songs for La La Land were composed by Justin Hurwitz, with lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen). Bartlett Sher (My Fair Lady, The King & I) is rumoured to be directing.
The new musical version of Dirty Dancing, with the movie’s original writer Eleanor Bergstein on board to develop and write the show’s book, and Lonny Price (A Class Act, Merrily We Roll Along), who played Neil Kellerman in the movie, set to direct.
The show also has ambitions beyond Broadway, with the producers wanting to travel to Asia, Australia, Latin America and beyond, although no current mention of the West End.
The Dirty Dancing musical is not to be confused with the Karl Sydow-produced Dirty Dancing – Live on Stage, which is a play with music. That show has enjoyed multiple runs in the West End, and is off on tour again in 2026. Sadly a planned London revival this year has stalled, with the new Capital Theatre planned as host venue failing to materialise on time.
These projects are part of Lionsgate’s growing focus on live entertainment — giving audiences the chance to experience beloved movies in an entirely new way. Previous successes have included La La Land in Concert, Dirty Dancing in Concert and The Twilight Saga in Concert, which toured internationally.
