New musical Redcliffe, written by and starring West End leading man Jordan Luke Gage is coming to London.
Redcliffe boasts a book, music and lyrics by Jordan Luke Gage (Titanique, Bonnie & Clyde, Heathers, & Juliet), who is also set to star in the show.
Redcliffe will play Southwark Playhouse Borough in London from 22 May to 4 July 2026.
The show has been teasing its return all week, and follows public workshop performances last year at The Other Palace theatre, and an initial showcase during annual new musicals showcase MTFest in 2024.
Jordan Luke Gage plays William in the show, which is a queer coming-of-age true story set in 18th Century England. Billed as an epic tale of forbidden love during the persecution people faced for hundreds of years, the story centres on William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Redcliffe, Bristol.
William, a man from humble beginnings, is swept up in a hurricane of passion and danger when he meets Richard, a sailor visiting the town. This meeting forces both men to question everything they knew about the world and themselves.
Musical direction and orchestrations for Redcliffe will be by Ben Tomalin.
Further casting and creatives for the show are to be announced.
Jordan Luke Gage said in a statement: “It has been my greatest fulfilment creating Redcliffe and exploring the world of 18th century Bristol, a time that was beyond terrifying for men like me to exist in. To be able to tell this story, one which has never been told on the public stage, and to be able to hopefully move, uplift and change people, is beyond thrilling for me as both writer and actor.”

Paul Taylor-Mills is celebrating 15 years of theatre productions this weekend at Musicals Con, with performances from Evelyn Hoskins (Carrie), May Tether (Heathers), and Jordan Luke Gage.
Jordan Luke Gage recently starred in Saving Mozart at The Other Palace Theatre in London, and Titanique at the Criterion Theatre in London. His other credits include originating the role of ‘Romeo’ in the Olivier Award-winning production of & Juliet at The Shaftesbury Theatre; and playing Clyde Barrow in Bonnie & Clyde The Musical at the Garrick Theatre in London.
Previous Redcliffe productions
MTFest showcased Redcliffe in 2024 starring Jordan Luke Gage, James Darch, Jess Douglas Welsh, Chris Fung, Emma Lindars and Rebecca Lock, and directed by Josh Seymour, with musical direction by Ben Tomalin.
Following MTFest, the show had further public workshop performances in The Other Palace’s studio space in May 2024. The workshop starred Jordan Luke Gage as William, Liam Tamne (The Baker’s Wife) as Richard, Lauren Drew (Six), Nadine Higgin (Legally Blonde) and Rebecca Lock (Here & Now) as Mother, with Leanne Jones, Matteo Johnson, Jessica Lee, Rebecca Lock, Joseph Peacock, Steven Serlin, Jess Douglas and Russell Wilcox.
