English National Opera (ENO) has announced that actor and comedian Mel Giedroyc will guest star in their acclaimed production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore.

Olivier Award-nominated HMS Pinafore returns to the London Coliseum this winter, playing for 12 performances from 4 December 2025 to 7 February 2026.

The former Great British Bake Off host will make her ENO debut in a non-singing role in the production, which has its first revival since it premiered in autumn 2021.

The cast also features Neal Davies as Sir Joseph, John Savournin as Captain Corcoran, Thomas Atkins as Ralph Rackstraw, Trevor Eliot Bowes as Dick Deadeye, Marcus Farnsworth as the Boatswain, Nicholas Crawley as the Carpenter, Bethan Langford as Hebe, and Rhonda Browne as Buttercup. The role of Josephine is shared by Henna Mun (performing on 4 Dec, 5 Dec, 23 Jan, 24 Jan Evening, 25 Jan Evening, 29 Jan Evening, 31 Jan Evening, 4 Feb, 5 Feb, and 7 Feb Matinee) and Eleanor Sanderson-Nash (performing on 24 Jan Matinee, 29 Jan Matinee, and 31 Jan Matinee). Completing the company is Spencer Darlaston-Jones.

Mel Giedroyc said in a statement: “I’m really excited to be making my debut with English National Opera at the London Coliseum in this hilarious production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore. Lots of innuendo and plenty of operatic sailors… What more could you ask for? It’s going to be fun!”

Giedroyc is currently starring in Starter for Ten The Musical at Bristol Old Vic.

HMS Pinafore is directed by Cal McCrystal, with set and costume design by takis. Leading the Orchestra of the ENO is conductor Matthew Kofi Waldren.

HMS Pinafore is playing on selected dates from 4 December 2025 to 7 February 2026.
