The critically acclaimed Sophie’s Surprise Party will light up London’s Underbelly Boulevard Soho this Christmas, running from 11 November to 10 January 2026.
The high-energy production, part circus spectacle and part immersive house party, previously played the venue in 2024 under the title Sophie’s Surprise 29th. It now returns to London following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, bringing with it brand-new acts and surprises.
Each performance places one lucky audience member centre stage as “Sophie”, the unsuspecting guest of honour, as the night unravels into circus-fuelled mayhem. With no two shows ever the same, audiences can expect a blend of breathtaking acrobatics, comedy, and outrageous chaos set to a euphoric ‘90s and early 2000s soundtrack.
The cast includes world-class performers from Cirque du Soleil, La Clique, and The 7 Fingers, delivering everything from aerial acrobatics and fire artistry to diabolo mastery and jaw-dropping stunts.
Co-creator Katharine Arnold describes the experience as “a shared fever dream – part house party, part fantasy, and totally unforgettable.” Meanwhile, Underbelly co-director Ed Bartlam calls it “jaw-dropping, hilarious, and the perfect way to spend a winter evening.”
The show is co-directed by Katharine Arnold, Isis Clegg-Vinell and Nathan Price, who bring global circus experience from Cirque du Soleil, La Soirée, and beyond. Joining them on stage are Cornelius Atkinson, Josie Jones, Emily McCarthy, and Willem McGowan, each bringing a unique mix of skills that transform the stage into an unpredictable Christmas party.
Sophie’s Surprise Party runs from 11 November 2025 to 10 January 2026 at Underbelly Boulevard in Soho.
