The Off-Broadway production of The Play That Goes Wrong has announced another extension, with tickets now available through 31 August 2025 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).
The long-running hit continues to delight audiences with its chaotic comedy and relentless misfortunes on stage. The current cast features Trevor Braun as Dennis, Ashley N. Hildreth as Annie, Julian Robertson as Trevor, Chris Lanceley as Chris, Adam Petherbridge as Max, Chris French as Jonathan, John Rapson as Robert, and Maggie Weston as Sandra. Understudies include Damien Brett, Laura D’Andre, Brandon Haagenson, and Jemma Jane.
Directed by Matt DiCarlo, The Play That Goes Wrong opened at New World Stages – Stage 4 on February 20, 2019. The production boasts a creative team that includes set design by Tony Award winner Nigel Hook, costume design by Roberto Surace, lighting design by Jeremy Cunningham, and sound design by Beth Lake. The original Broadway production, directed by Mark Bell, ran at The Lyceum Theatre from 2017 to 2019, earning a Tony Award for Best Set Design and multiple audience choice awards.
Co-written by Mischief company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, the show follows the hapless Cornley University Drama Society as they attempt to stage a 1920s murder mystery—only for everything that can go wrong to do so in spectacularly comedic fashion. Since its modest beginnings at a London fringe venue, The Play That Goes Wrong has grown into an international sensation, with productions in over 50 countries and more than four million audience members worldwide.
In the West End, the play continues its record-breaking run at the Duchess Theatre, where it has been entertaining audiences for over a decade. The production has also won the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and the 2014 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Comedy.
Beyond The Play That Goes Wrong, Mischief has expanded its comedic repertoire with a series of hit productions, including Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Magic Goes Wrong, A Comedy About A Bank Robbery, and Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle. Their latest show, The Comedy About Spies, is set to premiere in London in May 2025. Set in 1960s London, this madcap Cold War comedy is a farcical, physical double-crossing caper full of misunderstanding, miscommunication, and mistaken identity!
Also on the horizon is Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, a brand-new production where the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society takes on Charles Dickens’ festive classic—with predictably disastrous results. The show will tour the UK from November 2025 including a London season at the Apollo Theatre, running from 6 December to 25 January.
Mischief’s work extends beyond the stage with the award-winning BBC series The Goes Wrong Show, available for streaming on Broadway HD.
