The world premiere of Howard Brenton’s gripping new drama Churchill in Moscow comes to London, starring award-winner Roger Allam.

Churchill in Moscow dramatises the meeting of two unpredictable titans – Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin – as history teeters on a knife-edge.

Three-time Olivier Award winner Roger Allam (Endeavour, Murder in Provence, Frank & Percy) plays Winston Churchill, alongside a stellar cast including Peter Forbes (Jack Absolute Flies Again, Follies) as Joseph Stalin.

Howard Brenton’s plays have been seen at the National Theatre, RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe, Hampstead Theatre and the Royal Court.

Directed by the OT’s Artistic Director, Tom Littler, Churchill in Moscow is Brenton and Littler’s sixth collaboration.

Churchill in Moscow is playing at the Orange Tree Theatre in London from 3 February to 8 March 2025.

The Kremlin, Moscow, 1942. A top-secret meeting between Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin: one, a wealthy aristocrat from a blue-blooded line of English nobility, the other a Georgian peasant, hell-bent on destroying capitalism and the class system. Can Churchill and Stalin find common ground? As diplomats struggle to control the escalating chaos, two interpreters find themselves caught in the eye of the storm.
