Award-winning actor and director Ralph Fiennes is set to star in Oscar-winning writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s new drama Small Hotel, at the Theatre Royal Bath.
The production will be the third and final show of a 2025 season in Bath programmed by Ralph Fiennes (Conclave; Harry Potter; James Bond; Macbeth, London and New York).
Playing from 3 to 18 October 2025, this powerful new drama sees Fiennes play Larry, an acclaimed TV presenter and celebrity whose life and career are rapidly unravelling. As he is forced to unpick his past and confront his future, we meet a collection of unforgettable characters, including Larry’s troubled twin brother Richard, his unpredictable former lover, actress Marianne, and his domineering mother Athena.
Rebecca Lenkiewicz is an Oscar-winning writer whose plays include Her Naked Skin, which was the first new play by a living female playwright to be performed in the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatre. She has also written extensively for BBC Radio, including adaptations of Dracula and The Winter House, and TV episodes for Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Her screenplay for the Polish language film Ida won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film at the 2015 Academy Awards.
The other shows in Ralph Fiennes’s season include the world premiere of David Hare’s play Grace Pervades (27 June to 19 July 2025), also starring Miranda Raison, and directed by Jeremy Herrin; and Ralph Fiennes directing Shakespeare’s As You Like It (15 August to 6 September 2025), starring Ian Charleson Award winner Gloria Obianyo (King Lear) as Rosalind and Harriet Walter (House of Bernarda Alba, Succession) as Jaques.
Small Hotel is playing at the Theatre Royal Bath from 3 to 18 October 2025.
