The Donmar Warehouse has announced full casting and creatives for The Fear of 13 by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone).
Directed by Justin Martin (Prima Facie), The Fear of 13 plays the Donmar Warehouse from 4 October to 30 November 2024.
The Fear of 13 will star Nana Mensah (Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, Presumed Innocent, 13 Reasons Why, Queen of Glory) as Jackie Schaffer, opposite the previously announced casting of Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist), making his UK stage debut.
The ensemble is played by Michael Fox (Downton Abbey, Little Big Mouth, Kerry Jackson, Othello), Aidan Kelly (Killing Eve, Stay Close, Barbarians Rising), Posi Morakinyo (For Black Boys…, Ain’t Too Proud, Mandela), Cyril Nri (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Further than the Furthest Thing), Ferdy Roberts (Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing) and Tommy Sim’aan (A View from the Bridge, The Midwich Cuckoos).
Joining Justin Martin in the creative team are: Set Designer Miriam Buether, Costume Designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel, Lighting Designer Jon Clark, Sound Designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph, Video Designer Ash J Woodward, Composer and Music Director DJ Walde, Hair, Wigs and Makeup design by Campbell Young Associates, Associate Director Ed Burnside, Voice Coach Barbara Houseman, Dialect Coach Aundrea Fudge and Casting Director Anna Cooper CDG.
The Fear of 13 is based on the true life story of American Nick Yarris who, at the age of 21, was convicted of rape and murder and spent 22 years on Death Row, only to have been wrongly convicted.
The story was told in an acclaimed 2015 documentary by David Sington, and has been adapted for the stage by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bones).
The Fear of 13 is one of the first shows from the Donmar’s new Artistic Director Timothy Sheader, formerly of the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre,
The Fear of 13 will play at the Donmar Warehouse from 4 October to 30 November 2024.
