From his early days singing with the St Paul’s Cathedral Choir to winning a music scholarship at Eton College, Ovenden’s life has been steeped in tradition. The son of Reverend Canon John Ovenden, former chaplain to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, he has combined heritage with artistry to forge a distinguished career on stage and screen.

Julian’s critically acclaimed roles include his Olivier Award winning performance in South Pacific, Armand in Michel Legrand’s Marguerite in the West End opposite Ruthie Henshall, My Night With Reg at The Donmar Warehouse and West End transfer and opposite Gillian Andersen in Ivo Van Hove’s smash hit All About Eve.

Julian’s many musical theatre credits include Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George; Richard Jones’ Annie Get Your Gun; Finding Neverland; and, Maury Yeston’s Death Takes A Holiday.

He has headlined at many of the world’s leading music venues including Carnegie Hall, The Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Centre, The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, Sydney Opera House, The Royal Opera House, The Wigmore Hall, The Chatelet, Birmingham Symphony, The Bridgewater Hall, The Concertgebouw, The Palladium and the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
