Cameron Mackintosh and Chichester Festival Theatre’s revival of Oliver! has sent out an open casting call to all budding young actors.
Announced via social media, the open casting call stated ” Do you know a child who could play Oliver or a boy in Fagin’s gang? Cameron Mackintosh and Chichester Festival Theatre are looking for brilliant boys to play Oliver and members of Fagin’s gang”
Requirements for the role are: Age range 9-12 years; Height no taller than 147c, (4’7″) and with an unbroken voice.
The open call will take place on Sunday 7 April 2024 in Central London with the venue to be confirmed upon successful registration.
The deadline to register is 22 March and they only have capacity for 500 children. Successful applicants will be notified by 28 March 2024. Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. Only those fitting all the requirements will be seen on the day. The casting call is for children without an agent. Thos who already have representation will be seen through the usual channels. Billed as spectacular new production, Lionel Bart’s iconic musical has been fully re-conceived and revised for Chichester by director and choreographer Matthew Bourne and producer Cameron Mackintosh.
As previously announced, the adult cast includes Simon Lipkin (Guys and Dolls, Avenue Q) as Fagin, Shanay Holmes (Miss Saigon, The Bodyguard) as Nancy, Aaron Sidwell (Henry VI, Wicked) as Bill Sikes, Billy Jenkins (Les Misérables, BBC’s Dodger) as the Artful Dodger and Philip Franks (The Rocky Horror Show, Witness for the Prosecution) as Mr Brownlow.
With a sensational score, including Food Glorious Food, Consider Yourself, You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two, I’d Do Anything, Oom Pah Pah, As Long As He Needs Me and many more, this Olivier, Tony and Oscar-winning musical masterpiece vividly brings to life Dickens’ ever-popular story of the boy who asked for more.
Oliver! is produced in association with Cameron Mackintosh, and is widely tipped for a West End run.
Oliver! will run from 8 July to 7 September 2024 at Chichester Festival Theatre.
