West End star Elaine Paige will host an evening of musical theatre loveliness on BBC Two this weekend.

Playing on BBC Two from 9.20pm on Saturday 27 January 2024, the evening will kick off with new programme Show Tunes at the BBC, revealing a selection of songs from musicals including Cats, The Lion King, Funny Girl, My Fair Lady, Sunset Boulevard, West Side Story, A Little Night Music and The Sound of Music.

The collection of musical hits features several of Elaine Paige’s personal favourites from the BBC’s song and dance archives. Together, they promise an irresistible mix for lovers of show tunes, highlighting some of the amazing performances that have lit up stage and screen over the past few decades.

Then at 10.50pm, BBC Two will re-run Andrew Lloyd Webber at the BBC, where the hit composer of Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and more takes a nostalgic journey through the BBC archives.

At 12.20am on Sunday 27 January, you can watch Elaine Paige: I’m Still Here, featuring highlights of the West End star’s farewell concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2014.

And finally at 1.20am on Sunday morning, Elaine Paige at the BBC will show a selection of archive performances by Elaine.

The shows will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

The night’s musical theatre entertainment comes straight after the BBC One broadcast of this year’s Big Night of Musicals, the National Lottery funded extravaganza which took place earlier this week at The AO Arena in Manchester.

Big Night of Musicals will broadcast on BBC One on Saturday 27 January 2024 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, at 7.50pm..
