New musical Here You Come Again, based on Dolly Parton’s songs, is heading to Leeds Playhouse this Summer 2024, and also has plans for a West End run.

Written by songwriter Bruce Vilanch with Gabriel Barre and Tricia Paoluccio, the American show has been adapted by Jonathan Harvey (Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Beautiful Thing, Coronation Street).

Gabriel Barre will direct, and Tricia Paoluccio will star as Dolly in the show, with further casting to be announced.

The musical tells the story of a gay man who is a diehard Dolly Parton fan, and who uses Dolly’s music to get himself through difficult times.

Dolly songs featured include “Jolene”, “9 to 5”, “Islands in the Stream”, “I Will Always Love You”, “Love is Like a Butterfly”, “Two Doors Down”, “The Seeker” and “Here You Come Again”

Here You Come Again will run at Leeds Playhouse from 11 May to 8 June 2024, and dates for a West End run are to be confirmed.

Also initial UK tour dates have been announced, including the Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, Salford The Lowry and more- see tour dates below.

Here You Come Again is part of Leeds Playhouse’s new 2024 season, which also includes: a new co-production of My Fair Lady with Opera North (31 May – 29 June 2024), directed by James Brining; new play Paranormal Activity: A New Haunting Live on Stage (3 July – 4 August 2024), directed by Punchdrunk’s artistic director Felix Barrett and written by Levi Holloway; and a new adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (15 – 24 February 2024), co-produced with ith imitating the dog, which will also tour.

And, she will be gloriously brought to life by the American actress, Tricia Paoluccio, who has been stunning audiences everywhere embodying the spirit, humour, and heart that have made Dolly an enduring icon.”

The story behind Here You Come Again

The 30th anniversary production of Jonathan Harvey’s acclaimed play Beautiful Thing recently visited Leeds Playhouse. Currently playing at Leeds Playhouse is musical Oliver!

Here You Come Again is produced by Leeds Playhouse and Simon Friend Entertainment – who are also producing Paranormal Activity: A New Haunting Live on Stage, and produced Life of Pi in the West End and on Broadway, recent West End comedy The Crown Jewels, and forthcoming movie-to-stage play Minority Report at the Lyric Hammersmith.
