The best London theatre plays running during Christmas 2021 on the West End stage, including smash-hit dramas, comedies and thrillers.
There is something very special about heading into the West End in December to see the Christmas lights, and to see a London Theatre show.
The West End serves up a dazzling range of plays this year, from intense drama, to hilarious comedy and nail-biting thrillers.
New drama on offer in London includes the stage adaptation of Life of Pi at the Wyndham’s Theatre; the final stage adaptation in Hilary Mantel’s “Wolf Hall” trilogy, with The Mirror and the Light at the Gielgud Theatre; and Ralph Fiennes starring in TS Elliot’s Four Quartets at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
In terms of West End comedies, the hilarity on offer ranges from The Play That Goes Wrong and Magic Goes Wrong, to critically acclaimed new comedies Pride and Prejudice (Sort of) at the Criterion Theatre, and The Shark is Broken at the Ambassadors Theatre.
Plays for adults, families and children include long-runner Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre, and new shows including David Walliams’ Gangsta Granny at the Bloomsbury Theatre, and the National Theatre’s hugely acclaimed production of The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

Note: we have taken the “Christmas season” as running from mid November to mid January.
