Starring David Hunter (Waitress, Kinky Boots), Rachel John (Hamilton), Cedric Neal (Motown The Musical), Rachel Tucker (Come From Away, Wicked), and Shem Omari James (Songs For a New World) this is the first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade, Bridges of Madison County). This moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.

Directed by the brilliant Séimí Campbell (Songs For A New World, The London Palladium), this beautiful song cycle will be brought to life by this incredible cast at the Vaudeville Theatre for a limited five-week run!

Songs for a New World is booking from 5 February 2021 until 7 March 2021 at the Vaudeville Theatre, London.

Songs For A New World transports audiences through time and space to meet a startling array of characters – every one of them so different, but all representing our world today and our hopes for a new world… a better world.

‘Songs for a New World’ suspends bookings for West End show

Bookings for the upcoming West End production of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World have been suspended whilst producers agree news dates with performers and theatre owner, Nimax.

Songs for a New World was scheduled to play a limited 5-week run at the Vaudeville Theatre from 5 February 2021 however with third lockdown in England potentially running until 31 March or later, new dates must be found.

Producers Jamie Lambert and Eliza Jackson said: “We’ve decided upon consultation with @NimaxTheatres to temporarily suspend bookings of #SongsForANewWorld until we can find new dates for this show to take place. We remain fully committed to the show, and will be contacting ticket holders once new dates have been found!”

Starring David Hunter (Waitress, Kinky Boots), Rachel John (Hamilton), Cedric Neal (Motown The Musical), Rachel Tucker (Come From Away, Wicked), and recent Arts Ed graduate Shem Omari James, Robert Brown’s song cycle musical explores the lives, loves and choices of various people across the world.

Written and composed by Jason Robert Brown – whose shows include The Last Five Years, Parade, Bridges of Madison CountySongs for a New World premiered off-Broadway to widespread acclaim in 1995.

This production previously ran at the London Palladium in 2020 and is directed by Séimí Campbell. The creative team includes musical direction by Josh Winstone, musical supervision by Adam Hoskins, design consultancy by Madeleine Girling, lighting design by Jack Knowles, and sound design by Jonny Dickie of Robins Audio.

‘Songs for A New World’ to open at the Vaudeville Theatre in February 2021

Leading West End musical theatre stars David Hunter (Waitress, Kinky Boots), Rachel John (Hamilton), Rachel Tucker (Come From Away, Wicked), Cedric Neal (Back to the Future, Motown The Musical) and Shem Omari James will star in Songs for a New World at the Vaudeville Theatre in February 2021.

Directed by the Séimí Campbell (My Son Pinocchio – Southwark Playhouse) the production previously ran at the London Palladium for two socially distanced performances in October and was presented digitally earlier in the year.

Jason Robert Brown’s acclaimed song/cycle musical is a moving collection of powerful songs that examine life, love and the choices that we make.

The production features musical direction by Josh Winstone, musical supervision by Adam Hoskins, lighting design by Jack Knowles, sound design by Jonny Dickie of Robins Audio and design consultancy by Madeleine Girling.

Jamie Lambert and Eliza Jackson, chief executive and creative director of producer Lambert Jackson Productions, said: “This show garnered a huge amount of critical acclaim when it played the London Palladium in early October, and we are hugely grateful to the brilliant team at Nimax for working with us to bring this phenomenal production to the Vaudeville.

“The show reflects so brilliantly all that is happening in our world right now, while also providing hope and light in a time where so many theatre fans are feeling the effect that the pandemic has had on our industry.”

Songs for a New World will run from 5 February 2021 until 7 March 2021, with an official opening night on 9 February 2021.
