Broadway On Demand – a new streaming service featuring Broadway shows will launch in America this month followed by the UK in June.
Broadway on Demand President and CEO Sean Cercone said: “Broadway is a giant global brand, and its impact extends far beyond a few blocks in midtown Manhattan. Even before our current crisis, we’ve long dreamt of building a platform that would truly fulfil Broadway’s long-held promise of being the ‘longest street in the world.’ This platform is our way of breaking down geographical and economic barriers so that the entire world can partake in all the wonders that Broadway has to offer.”
Cercone did not announce which shows would be available at the launch of the new streamer, only that is has “a growing list of live-captured Broadway shows” that aim to have the “most comprehensive array” of theatre-related content. The on-demand service will also have exclusive performances, concerts, backstage videos and master classes.
The new streaming platform will have some free content but most will be premium content accessed which attracts a small yet to be announced monthly subscription fee.
