The UK’s National Theatre has launched a free streaming service – National Theatre At Home – on it’s YouTube channel.
The new streaming service will feature productions previously screened in cinemas in the UK and internationally as part of its digital NT Live programme. This new offering from the NT enables the public to maintain links with the National Theatre whilst it is shut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first production to be broadcast via National Theatre At Home on 2 April 2020 will be Richard Bean’s One Man Two Guvnors featuring a Tony Award-winning performance from James Corden.
Other productions in April include Sally Cookson’s bold and imaginative reimagined production of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre; Treasure Island featuring Arthur Darvill as Long John Silver; and, Simon Godwin’s joyous production of Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night starring Tamsin Greig as a transformed Malvolia.
Each production will be free and released every Thursday at 7.00pm GMT, it will then be available on demand for seven days. Productions for May and June are yet to be announced. You can access National Theatre At Home here.
