Richard Cameron‘s raucous comedy about friendship and divided loyalty in a rough and rugged world receives a major revival at the Kiln Theatre in 2020.
In a poignant and hilariously heartwarming play with romantic songs of the 1950’s performed live on stage, join a group of miners as they reminisce on shared experiences and the close bonds between them.
The Glee Club runs from 4 June 2020 until 27 June 2020 at the Kiln Theatre, London.
What’s the Story?
‘When I go back those days in my head, it’s too that pit and the fun I had with a bunch of old men singing songs.’
It is the Summer of ’62. Five hard-working, hard-drinking Doncaster miners, together with their church organist accompanist, are frantically preparing to wow the audience of a local gala concert.
This is The Glee Club, a group of unlikely singers, who aren’t exactly known for being at the vanguard of a musical revolution.
But both Britain and music are about to change … and so too are the lives of these six men, will anything ever be the same again?
