About Toby Stephens
Toby Stephens is a stage, screen and voice actor best known for playing Bond villain Gustav Graves in Die Another Day and John Robinson in the recent Netflix reboot of Lost in Space. He won the 1994 Ian Charleson Award for the title role of Coriolanus at the RSC having won the second prize for his 1992 performance of Betram in All’s Well That Ends Well.
Toby is the younger son of acting legends Sir Robert Stephens and Dame Maggie Smith and is a graduate of LAMDA.
On stage, his notable West End credits include Oslo at the National and Harold Pinter Theatres, Private Lives (Noël Coward) and A Doll’s House and Betrayal at the Donmar Warehouse.

Toby’s numerous theatre roles include Tamburlaine, Antony and Cleopatra, All’s Well That Ends Well, Wallenstein, Unfinished Business, Coriolanus, Measure for Measure and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, all at the RSC; Phedre Hippolytus, Britannicus at Almeida Theatre; The Country Wife (Haymarket); and Molière classic Tartuffe.
His many film roles include Hunter Killer, The Journey, The Machine, All Things to All Men,Dark COrners, Possession, Sapce Cowboys, Sunset Heights and Onegin.
Tv roles include The Great Gatsby, Waking the Dead, Jane Eyre, Robin Hood, Agatha Christie’s Marple The Blue Geranium, Agatha Christie’s Poirot Five Little Pigs, And Then There Were None, Law & Order: UK and Summer of Rockets.
Toby has provided voice work in over 50 radio and audio books.
