ABOUT JAMES MCAVOY

Golden Globe and three-time Olivier Award nominee James McAvoy will star in new adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s classic Cyrano de Bergerac, freely adapted by Martin Crimp and directed by Jamie Lloyd.

Cyrano de Bergerac sees Jamie Lloyd and James McAvoy continue their long-standing collaboration following The Ruling Class and Macbeth at Trafalgar Studios, Three Days of Rain at Apollo Theatre and Heart of Darkness for BBC Radio 4.

James McAvoy’s previous theatre roles

In addition to James Olivier nominated performances in The Ruling Class, Macbeth and Three Days of Rain, his stage credits include Breathing Corpses at the Royal Court, Privates on Parade at the Donmar Warehouse, Out in the Open at Hampstead Theatre and Lovers at Royal Lyceum Theatre.

James McAvoy’s film & tv roles

On screen, McAvoy is known for his role as Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool 2, and Dark Phoenix.  Recent screen roles include IT: Chapter Two, Glass, Atomic Blonde, Split, Filth, Victor Frankenstein and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby

 Other notable film credits include The Last King of Scotland, Atonement , The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Becoming Jane and Starter For Ten.

On television, McAvoy is know for the BAFTA-winning Channel 4 series Shameless, BAFTA-winning BBC political drama series, State of Play, the Channel Four adaptation of Zadie Smith’s popular novel,White Teeth, and most recently the new BBC adaptation of His Dark Materials.
