ABOUT MATTHEW BRODERICK
Two-time Tony award-winning stage actor and Hollywood film star Matthew Broderick will make his West End debut in The Starry Messenger.
Instantly recognisable from his early films Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Glory and War Games Matthew Broderick was last seen on screen in Rules Don’t Apply, directed by and starring Warren Beatty; as well as Manchester By The Sea, directed by Kenneth Lonergan.
Broderick will next star in Shawn Snyder’s To Dust, which won the Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award for Narrative feature; the animated comedy Wonder Park, starring Jennifer Garner and Mila Kunis; and the upcoming Netflix series Daybreak.
Matthew Broderick will star alongside Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey, The Handmaid’s Tale) as husband and wife in the West End premiere of Kenneth Lonergan‘s drama.
What role does MATTHEW BRODERICK play?
Matthew plays Mark – a middle-aged astronomer at New York City’s Planetarium, who feels a closer connection to the infinite, starry sky than to his job or even to his wife, Anne. After a chance meeting with Angela, a young single mother, events unfold that force him to re-evaluate his life.

Gurney’s comedy Sylvia, the smash Broadway hit It’s Only a Play and The Producers opposite his frequent co-star Nathan Lane; Nice Work If You Can Get It (Broadway); Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple (Broadway), The Foreigner (Roundabout Theatre), Wallace Shawn’s Evening at the Talk Hous , How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Broadway), Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song Trilogy, Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs and its sequel Biloxi Blues.

On screen, Broderick starred in the critically acclaimed film You Can Count on Me opposite Laura Linney. He also earned considerable acclaim starring opposite Reese Witherspoon in the Independent Spirit Award winning political satire Election, directed by Alexander Payne.
