Adrian Lester, Jason Manford and Meow Meow will star in the Royal Albert Hall’s concert-style production of Guys and Dolls this October.
The semi-staged production will see Adrian Lester (BBC series Hustle) star as Sky Masterson, with comedian and stage actor Jason Manford playing Nathan Detroit and cabaret star Meow Meow as Miss Adelaide.
Lester’s musical-theatre credits include Sweeney Todd (National Theatre) and his Olivier-winning performance in Sam Mendes’ production of Company at the Donmar Warehouse and in the West End.
Adrian Lester said: “It’s been a few years since I’ve been on stage and quite a few more since I’ve been in a musical, but singing at the Royal Albert Hall, backed by the Royal Philharmonic, is an opportunity too good to miss.”
Jason Manford returns to the stage following his year-long run in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. His previous theatre credits include a starring role in The Producers and his theatrical stage debut opposite Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton in Sweeney Todd.
The cast also features acclaimed jazz singer and pianist Joe Stilgoe as Benny Southstreet, Clive Rowe reprising the role of Nicely Nicely Johnson for which he won an Olivier in 1997, and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
The classic musical comedy is a sizzling tale of gamblers, gangsters and nightclub singers set in the roaring twenties of New York. The show features some of Broadway’s greatest show-stoppers, including ‘Luck Be a Lady’, ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ and ‘My Time of Day’.
Guys and Dolls is directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear (Sunset Boulevard, Mary Poppins, Gypsy) with musical direction from James McKeon and design by Morgan Large.
Guys and Dolls will play three performances from 19 October 2018 until 20 October 2018 at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
