The Royal Shakespeare Company returns to the Barbican with a contemporary London Season of three of Shakespeare’s most loved plays: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet and The Merry Wives of Windsor
There’s more than a hint of reality TV to this modern production of Shakespeare’s hilarious comedy, directed by Fiona Laird.
The Merry Wives of Windsor is booking from 7 December 2018 until 5 January 2019 at the Barbican, London.
Down on his luck in the suburbs, John Falstaff plans to hustle his way to a comfortable retirement by seducing the wives of two wealthy men.
Unknown to him, it’s the women of Windsor who really pull the strings, orchestrating Falstaff’s comeuppance amidst a theatrical smorgasbord of petty rivalries, jealousies and over-inflated egos.
For a fat Englishman, a Welshman and a Frenchman, the only way is Windsor…
Full casting to be announced.
Directed by Fiona Laird with set and costume design by Lez Brotherston, choreography by Sam Spencer-Lane, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, music by Fiona Laird, orchestration by Johanna S Groot Bluemink, sound design by Gregory Clarke, comedy direction by Toby Park and fight direction by Tom Jordan
