About Sharon D. Clarke
Olivier award winning Sharon D. Clarke is a highly regarded British actress and singer. She was awarded an M.B.E for services to drama in the 2017 New Year Honours list.
Sharon’s recent work includes the title role in Tony Kushner’s acclaimed musical Caroline, Or Change which will soon transfer to Broadway; the role of Linda Loman in 2019 Young Vic production of Arthur Miller’s play Death of A Salesman which transfers to the West End later this year; and, Sonya in Cy Coleman’s musical The Life at Southwark Playhouse.
Never far from the stage, Sharon is currently starring as The Lady in Sheldon Epps’s torch song musical Blues In The Night at the Kiln Theatre in North London.
Amongst her many screen roles, TV audiences would recognise Sharon for the role of Lola Griffin in the long running medical drama Holby City.

Sharon’s extensive theatrical credits include the title roles in Caroline, Or Change (Playhouse Theatre/Hampstead/Chichester) and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (National Theatre), as well as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost The Musical(West End), Mamma Morton in Chicago (West End), Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray (Shaftesbury Theatre), Mariah in Porgy and Bess (Regents Park Open Air Theatre), General Cartwright in Guys and Dolls (West End), Joanne in Rent (Shaftesbury Theatre) and Rafiki in The Lion King (Lyceum Theatre).
She has also performed in many pantomimes at the Hackney Empire.
Sharon’s numerous tv credits includes EastEnders, Holby City, The Bill, New Tricks, Doctors, Silent Witness, Death In Paradise, Doctor Who, Informer, Waking The Dead, Casualty and Psychobitches.
