The Rolls-Royce of English comedies, Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home.

‘Launched with a flourish’ (The Sunday Times), Classic Spring’s Oscar Wilde Season promises to cast new light on Wilde’s ground-breaking work, showing how more than a century on, he still strikes to the heart of social scandal.

An Ideal Husband runs from 20 April 2018 until 14 July 2018 at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Until Mrs Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his previous financial chicanery.

Real life father & son Edward & Freddie Fox will play fictional father and son in the West End production of Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband. The production forms part of Dominic Dromgoole's Oscar Wilde season at the Vaudeville Theatre and will be directed by Jonathan Kent. Edward Fox, most recently seen in the West End in Sand in the Sandwiches will play the Earl of Caversham. 'The Day of the Jackal' actor's many stage and screen credits include The Audience (West End), with Helen Mirren, A Bridge Too Far, The Dresser, and Gandhi. Freddie will play Lord Goring.  His notable stage credits include playing Wilde’s lover Lord Alfred ‘Bosie’ Douglas in The Judas Kiss, opposite Rupert Everett (Hampstead Theatre, West End), Travesties (Menier Chocolate Factory, West End) and Romeo in Kenneth Branagh’s Romeo and Juliet, with Lily James (Garrick Theatre). His screen credits include Cucumber (Channel 4), Banana (E4), Boy George (BBC) and The Three Musketeers. Wilde's comic play of blackmail and political corruption will also star Frances Barber as Mrs. Cheveley. Best-known for her role as Caroline Warwick in BBC series Silk, her many screen and stage credits include Mr. Holmes, Vicious (ITV), and Death in Paradise (BBC). Barber's numerous stage appearances have included playing Cleopatra in Antony and Cleopatra (Shakespeare’s Globe), Arkadina in The Seagull (RSC), and Julius in Phyllida Lloyd’s all-female Julius Caesar (Donmar Warehouse).
