Titus Andronicus – RSC Rome Season at the Barbican

Sorry, this show is not currently booking.

The Royal Shakespeare Company returns to the Barbican with a thrilling new season set in Shakespeare’s Rome MMXVII.

Comprising four of the playwright’s most gripping plays, Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, Antony & Cleopatra, and Titus Andronicus.

The decay of Rome reaches vicious depths in Shakespeare’s most brutal and bloody play. Blanche McIntyre directs the epic conclusion of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Rome season.

Shakespeare’s gory revenge depicts murder as entertainment. As the body count piles up, the tragedy poses questions about the nature of sexuality, family, class and society.

David Troughton leads the cast.

Titus Andronicus will run from 7 December 2017 until 19 January 2018 at the Barbican.

STORY

Titus is a ruler exhausted by war and loss. He relinquishes power but leaves Rome in disorder.

Rape, cannibalism and severed body parts fill the moral void at the heart of this corrupt world.

CAST

David Troughton leads the cast.

Further casting to be announced.
