Double Oscar award winning actress and former MP Glenda Jackson makes a dramatic return to the stage following a 25-year absence to play King Lear in Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy, alongside an outstanding company including Jane Horrocks, Rhys Ifans, Simon Manyonda and Harry Melling.
Directed by Deborah Warner, King Lear runs from 25 October 2016 until 3 December 2016 at the Old Vic.
STORY
Shakespeare’s tragedy depicts the gradual descent into madness of King Lear.
An aged king decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters, according to which of them is most eloquent in praising him. His favourite, Cordelia, says nothing.
