Florian Zeller’s Molière award-winning play The Father returns to the West End
Winner of three Moliere Awards including Best Play 2014, The Tricycle theatre & Theatre Royal Bath’s critically acclaimed production of The Father returns to the West End following it a sell-out run at the Wyndham’s Theatre in 2015.
Florian Zeller’s play, starring Kenneth Cranham, takes us into the confused world of an elderly man and his carer daughter.
The Father makes us see things as if through the confused eyes of Andre, as he struggles to make sense of a progressively befuddling world. Sound grim? It’s not. It’s a play that constantly confounds expectations.
The Father runs from 24 February 2016 until 26 March 2016 at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
STORY
Now 80 years old, Andre was once a tap dancer. He lives with his daughter Anne and her husband Antoine. Or was he an engineer whose daughter Anne lives in London with her new lover, Pierre? The thing is, he is still wearing his pyjamas, and he can’t find his watch. He is starting to wonder if he’s losing control.
CREATIVE TEAM
The Father by Florian Zeller, in a translation by Christopher Hampton is directed by James Macdonald, with scenic design by Miriam Buether, lighting by Guy Hoare and sound by Christopher Shutt.
