Stage and screen icon Liza Minelli return’s to the West End’s London Palladium
Theatrical superstar Liza Minelli is to follow in the footsteps of Al Pacino and other Hollywood stars by getting up-close and personal on the West End stage.
Hosted by Sir Bruce Forsyth, An Intimate Evening with Liza Minnelli marks Liza’s fifth engagement at the London Palladium and unlike her previous concerts this event will include a live 90 minute interview with Liza talking about her extraordinary career, from growing up in Hollywood to the present day and will finish with a few intimate songs and a Q&A session with fans in the audience. Liza will be accompanied by her long time musical director and pianist Billy Stritch
Liza said: “I’m always so excited to return to Britain, which I’ve considered to be a second home for many years. I have so many friends there and I look forward to being back again for these special intimate evenings. Whenever I do concerts people always say they want to hear about me growing up, being on Broadway, in the movies, the people I’ve met and worked with… so this will give me a chance to share a lot more of those stories. I can’t wait to see you all again!”
Liza’s first engagement at the London Palladium was in 1964 when Liza and her mother, Judy Garland, sold out two special concerts. Liza also appeared there in solo concert runs in 1973, 1978 & 1986 and in recognition of this, she will be inducted into the London Palladium Hall of Fame – her photo will be hung next to her mother and alongside Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin and the other American stars that have performed at the venue from the 1950’s to the present day.
An Intimate Evening with Liza Minnelli will be held on 20 September 2015 at the London Palladium.
Liza will also perform An Intimate Evening with Liza Minnelli in Sheffield at the City Hall on 22 September 2015 and at the Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow on 24 September 2015.
