BAFTA winner Letitia Wright makes her National Theatre debut in the UK premiere of Tracey Scott Wilson’sThe Story. Take a behind the scenes look at the production in rehearsals ahead of its opening this month.
Directed by Clint Dyer (the Death of England trilogy), The Story is set to make its UK premiere at the National Theatre later this month. Tracey Scott Wilson’s newsroom thriller examines racial politics and journalistic ethics, through the lens of an ambitious young reporter Yvonne (played by Letitia Wright in her National Theatre debut).
The play centres around a shocking event that challenges four journalists on their own moral code: when a white teacher is killed in a Black neighbourhood, the journalists race to break the headline, but shocking evidence forces them to confront how far they’re willing to go to tell their version of the truth.
The Story runs at the National Theatre from 27 August to 24 October 2026.
