Ricky Wilson to star in Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical

Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson is set to join the cast of Secret Cinema’s Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical, playing Teen Angel across selected performances when the show returns to Evolution London this summer.

Wilson, the lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs since the band formed in 2000, and a former coach on BBC talent show The Voice, takes on the cameo role made famous by the song Beauty School Dropout. He joins the previously announced cast of returning stars Stephanie Costi and Lucy Penrose, who reprise their roles as Sandy and Rizzo, alongside Giórgios Michaelídes as Danny and Archangelo Ciulla as Kenickie. Further casting will be announced in due course.

Ricky Wilson joins the cast

Wilson is among the most recognisable frontmen in British rock, having fronted the Kaiser Chiefs, the Leeds band behind hits including I Predict a Riot, Ruby and Oh My God, for more than two decades. Beyond the band, he reached a wider television audience as a coach on The Voice UK, making him a natural fit for the high-energy, crowd-pleasing world of Secret Cinema’s production. His casting as Teen Angel, the celestial guardian who appears to Frenchy in one of the film’s most memorable musical numbers, adds further star wattage to the returning show.

Following its sold-out run in 2025, Secret Cinema’s immersive staging of Grease returns to Evolution London in Battersea Park for a strictly limited season this summer. A two-hour-and-fifteen-minute spectacular, the production brings every iconic song from the beloved 1978 Paramount Pictures film — which starred Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta — to life, from Summer Nights to Greased Lightnin’ to We Go Together, performed by a live cast and band against multiple movie screens.

True to Secret Cinema’s signature style, audiences don’t just watch the show, they step inside the world of the film, exploring iconic locations including the Frosty Palace, the Auto Shop and the Carnival, soaking up the school spirit of Rydell High and tucking into 1950s American diner-style treats. Back by popular demand, this summer’s run features even more themed Roam and Return seating, allowing audiences to explore the experience before settling into dedicated seating at either the Frosty Diner or the Drive-In.

Directed by Matthew Costain, the creative team also includes set designer Tom Rogers, choreographer Jennifer Weber, lighting designer Howard Hudson, sound designer Gareth Fry and video designer Ian William Galloway.
