Disney’s The Lion King has extended its record-breaking West End run until May 2027, with thousands more tickets now available.
Tickets for the hit London musical are now available until 16 May 2027 and the announcement comes as new cast members join the show.
Since opening at the Lyceum Theatre in 1999, The Lion King has welcomed more than 20 million theatregoers, wowing audiences with its breathtaking puppetry and powerful score.
Directed by Julie Taymor, The Lion King features music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice, including “The Circle of Life” and the Academy Award-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”.

The current cast of The Lion King
Posi Morakinyo and Asha Parker-Wallace took over the leading roles of Simba and Nala in the landmark musical on 5 May 2026. The casting reunites the two actors, who starred together in American Psycho at the Almeida Theatre at the start of 2026.
Morakinyo’s recent credits include the Olivier Award-winning For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy in the West End and the RSC’s Much Ado About Nothing. Parker-Wallace recently appeared in the world premiere of Burlesque The Musical at the Savoy Theatre and Starter for Ten at Bristol Old Vic and Birmingham Rep.
Other new starters in The Lion King company include Stuart Neal as Timon, Michael Jeremiah as Banzai and Simone Robinson as Sarabi.
The new cast join a company that also includes George Asprey as Scar, Pierre van Heerden as Pumbaa, Thenjiwe Nofemele as Rafiki, Shaun Escoffery as Mufasa, Gary Jordan as Zazu, Sadia McEwen as Shenzi, and Mark Tatham as Ed.

The Lion King musical tells the story of fearless king Mufasa who meets his demise at his power-hungry brother’s paws.
Simba, the king’s son, is forced to flee to the Serengeti Plains to escape Uncle Scar’s tyranny. With the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa, his father’s and wisdom and his newfound courage, Simba sets out on a quest to take his rightful place at the top of Pride Rock.
