The lovable and promiscuous puppets of Avenue Q are here to stay. Producers have announced that, due to popular demand, the critically acclaimed 20th Anniversary production at the Shaftesbury Theatre is extending its run through the end of the year and into 2027.

The highly anticipated revival premiered at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on 20 March 2026, following a 15-year absence in the West End.

Producers Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson said:

“We’re absolutely thrilled that the return of Avenue Q has once again struck a chord with audiences, as well as with a whole new generation of theatregoers, discovering the heart, humour and honesty of our fuzzy friends for the very first time. The response to the production at the Shaftesbury Theatre has been extraordinary, and we’re delighted to extend the show’s limited season.”

Avenue Q was originally only booking until 29 August 2026 but now will run through 3 January 2027.

The nostalgic and hilariously raucous Tony Award-winning musical follows recent graduate Princeton as he struggles to find his path in life, and moves to a rundown apartment building on Avenue Q. Once there, he discovers that his rag-tag motley crew of neighbours are also just trying to figure out life.

The raucous satire features songs and lyrics by Robert Lopez (Book of Mormon, Frozen) and Jeff Marx and a book by Jeff Whitty. The iconic puppets are designed by Rick Lyons, who was also a puppeteer on Sesame Street for over 15 years.
